|
|
Okay, people. At San Diego Comic-Con, this was posted today by Newsarama about what they saw at a Cup of Joe Panel put on by Marvel Comics, which is now owned by Disney, who owns the CrossGen characters:
One last teaser, an animated one — and an interesting one. The Crossgen sigil logo, then fire covering it, transforming it into another, similar logo. Quesada said he couldn't comment on it any further.
What do you all think it mean?? _________________ Official #1 Fan of Negation

I am hoping they contact the creators of these great books. Bedard back on Negation, Waid on Ruse, Marz on Sojourn would be great. I am afraid that we would see some Marvel tweeking of the properties, which if everyone remembers the Malibu characters, that may be a little detrimental. I am keeping my fingers crossed. They really have not done much with Marvelman, which was their big announcement last year. _________________ Spenser with an s....like the poet. |

Great interview, SF! It froze after about five mins but I got to hear most of it. Sounds like they do have big plans. He mentioned they might tweak some of the concepts, so I'm thinking we'll probably get re-imaginings instead of straight continuations, though I'm hoping for the latter, or a little bit of both. Anyway, break out the champagne everyone. Looks like the CrossGen universe is being reborn (in some shape or form). _________________ Official #1 Fan of Negation

Hey guys! Go to Marvel.com and check out the video for the Day 4 Update! You'll see a brief snippet from the Quesada interview and on the screen behind him? The Sigil! Crossgens sigil bursts into flames and is replaced by a new design, showing that yes... Marvel has finally wised up! Crossgens titles (and there are a LOT of people clammoring for Ron Marz) are going to be published! With any luck, they won't wait too long! Long live Arwyn! Sojourn WILL be back!
Can you tell I'm excited? LOL _________________ Waiting for the day when Disney and Marvel wise up and realize they have a money maker waiting in the wings. All those Crossgen Titles, but especially Sojourn, will be great money makers for them. |

You're welcome Lucky. Either way I'll be happy, especially if my all time favorite comic returns.
LOL I can tell Ken.
It would be awesome if Ron Marz would return to Sojourn. I think he said in the past he wasn't done with the series when Crossgen took him off the series and he'd consider it if someone ever offered him the chance to write it again. Hopefully that's still true and I love his work on Witchblade. He got me back into comics twice. First with Sojourn and then with Witchblade after Sojourn ended. _________________ Jenny|Sojourn's Official #1 Fan.

Since some creators are not likely to work at Marvel (Tony Bedard is DC exclusive, isn't he? Mark Waid is likely to be very busy at BOOM!), I think it cannot be assumed that all of the closely associated creators will return.
That said, I am excited anyway. As long as Marvel put some quality creators on these, and maintain the idea of a Sigil-verse, then in some ways that is better than nothing, and that is the best I feel I can hope for; anything more (Waid and Guice on Ruse for example) would be a wish too far.
But well done to Marvel for making this happen. |

I think we can maybe expect Mark Waid to get a crack at Ruse, if he wants to. He has been doing some Spider-Man work, and has a Captain America project coming from Marvel. I would suspect that we will see some limited series at first, maybe Mystic, Scion, Sojourn, and Meridian. I may be wrong, but Ron Marz may be exclusive to Top Cow, I am not sure. Here is hoping to read some news in the not too distant future. _________________ Spenser with an s....like the poet. |

I believe you are right that Marz is under an exclusive contract with Top Cow. I think it'd be cool to see some of the original creators back but then Marvel might want to just start fresh using only the basic concepts. Can't wait to find out more. _________________ Jenny|Sojourn's Official #1 Fan.

Whether they use the same talent or not (likely not) they are publishing these properties because they know that they worked. They had dedicated fans and those fans will flock to these new books provided they don't change the formula's too much. I've been poking around a lot of comic news sites in the last couple days and there is a lot of excitement out there. This development has the whole industry buzzing! I even saw one DC employee say he was thinking about switching up if he could get a crack at one of the old Crossgen Titles! This should be interesting! _________________ Waiting for the day when Disney and Marvel wise up and realize they have a money maker waiting in the wings.
